Yesterday was my birthday, and I got some very nice gifts from my family. The gift cards to the JC Penney salon will pay for my next hair color and cut, and I got more to Best Buy toward the plasma TV we want to get(mostly because I have a small home, and mounting it on a wall will allow me to put another chair where the existing TV is!). My husband also got me a beautiful glass tree ornament from "The Hand Of Man", a quaint little shop in Owego.He also got me a Kindle. I love the feel of a book in my hands, but sometimes that book, like the one from Stephen King which I am reading now and is 1100 plus pages, is just too large to hold comfortably, and way too heavy to carry around on trips! The Kindle allows me to shop for books, mags, etc. online, buy them and download them anytime and anywhere, access my email, listen to music, etc. and is paper thin! It fits easily in my purse. It's great for students b/c they can download their textbooks to it and not have to carry all those books around! I'm sure I'll still buy paperbacks from B&N and enjoy my lattes there, but my "Carol's Kindle" will definitely come in handy! And of course I'll keep my mag subscriptions to Country, Country Extra, and Yankee Magazine just as they are. Now I kind of have the best of both worlds!
