April showers bring May flowers....and I just picked out a couple arrangements for my back yard. I love a lot of different colors. They really cheer me up when I sit on my back porch and watch all the birds and squirrels. A robin built her nest above our security lights last year, but her nest has been taken over this year by a blue jay mom. I watch her every day, sitting there on her eggs. I'll have to make sure to keep our one outdoor cat inside when the hatchlings are ready to fly or he's apt to get his eyes pecked out! All birds are very protective of their chicks when they are learning to fly, and blue jays can be especially so! I know because last year the robin parents chased a stray cat right out of the backyard. I'd never seen a cat run so fast, and with 2 birds chasing right alongside her head! It was great entertainment!
The flowers are very pretty---bright and cheery! I must differ with you on your concern for your cat. I think the baby birds are in a tad more danger than kitty! Happy bird watching!
ReplyDeleteNice flowers!
ReplyDeleteI agree with carol about the birds protective instinct. Last year our cat(Patches) walked by a bush that had a nest with baby birds. A couple of birds started dive bombing her and she was running toward the house. I had to rescue her from the birds!
ReplyDeleteYou might say Carol is a... basket case.
