Here is a pic of my grandchildren on Halloween night. They sure got a lot of treats! Also of the jack-o-lanterns my son Jamie and husband Jimmy carved out at my house the Friday before Halloween. Today I made an apple pie with a new twist---instead of a top crust that you just roll out, I instead tried this idea from Yankee magazine: you use a cookie cutter of leaves(I used oak and maple) to cut out the dough for the top crust, overlapping the leaves any which way! I used a small paring knife to draw in the lines on the leaves. I don't want to cut into it now, though, cause it looks so nice!

  2. What a great looking pie! The kids all look wonderful. Who is that on the far right in the picture? I have to say Noah always cracks me up. As for me, our grandson has boycotted Halloween for the second year in a row. He wants nothing to do with dressing up and trick-or-treating. I was there for Halloween.
